The Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) of the University of Ghana has organized the final five-day residential training workshop to build capacity in data collection, analysis and reporting for development, for selected staff of twenty different Ministries in Ghana. The training came off from August 28, 2017 to September 1, 2017 at the Capital View Hotel, Koforidua.

Training participants were Directors, Deputy Directors, Research Officers, Commercial Officers, Development Planning Officers a and Communication Specialists drawn mainly from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry of Land and Natural Resources, Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Work and Housing, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Ministry of Business Development and The Local Government Service.

Knowledge imparted to trainees include the civil registration process; how to use the STATA software to analyze and assess vital statistics and; data use and dissemination. The training forms part of the Multinational Statistical Capacity Building Program for Managing for Development Results, Phase 4.2 Grant, awarded RIPS by the African Development Bank (AfDB).
